Time to dust off your skis or snowboard, find your poles and grab your ski and boarding clothes - with the gift of early snow, the Aspen Skiing Company is opening Aspen Mountain for top to bottom skiing tomorrow, November 22. The forecast calls for snow this weekend, so expect great conditions as you make your first turns of the season. Snowmass will open on schedule on Thanksgiving Day, November 27.
In anticipation of the FIS Women's Ski World Cup Winternational on Aspen Mountain over the Thanksgiving weekend, the snow guns have been going non-stop to create the perfect course for the speedy ladies of the World Cup circuit. Additionally, a strong multi-day snow storm blew through last week and we have more snow in the forecast for the weekend. We're going to be in great shape for opening day on Aspen and Snowmass mountains on November 27!
If you love art and appreciate the wealth of local artistic talent in our valley, tonight's inaugural launch of the Wyly Open is right up your alley. More than 50 works from artists within the 816 zip code (all towns within the Roaring Fork Valley) will be displayed and the public has the opportunity to vote on their favorite work of art, which will receive the WOW Award (Wyly Open Winner). The opening reception is tonight from 5-7pm at the Wyly Art Center in downtown Basalt, and the Wyly Open will run until December 19. Details at www.wylyarts.org.
